About the Company…

 

Initiate puts the emphasis on performance. Creating new works each term, the company looks to provide opportunities for young people to perform live at youth dance platforms, festivals and showcases. Company members work under professional conditions, gaining valuable experience of how real world dance companies operate.

 

Developing Creativity in Contempoary Dance Performance

 

Focused on developing the creativity and performative qualities of the company members, Initiate will commission a diverse range of professional choreographers to deliver workshops and make work on the company. This will lead to company members being able to submit proposals for new work that they themselves will create. Members will also be encouraged to experience, make links and gain exposure to other dance artists, styles, performances and workshops in the area and beyond.

Admission to the company is by audition only. Auditions take place regularly and will be led by current professional dance artists incorporating technique and performance with opportunities for participants to demonstrate their individual creative abilities. To find out more, click here.
